Why it matters

Packaging is a major contributor to waste and pollution

One major issue with transitioning to alternative packaging for food products is that large scale production and distribution requires preservation and protection. Up until now, plastics and metals were the only means for ensuring that food products could be adequately protected. The result is that packaging accounts for ~60% of waste.

How it works

Varden are producing enhanced pulp fibre for sustainable packaging

Varden’s core technology uses natural moulded pulp fibre (from agricultural residue) to create sustainable and high performing packaging for consumers. The natural fibres are repurposed with enhanced properties to ensure that adequate protection and preservation of products can be achieved, sustainably.

The WOW factor

The Wow Factor

Varden’s production process is more efficient than the process in use for plastics, metals and glass. The materials can be tailored to match supply chain and customer requirements. The result is a high performance material that is sustainable and cost effective.
